I'll be shooting in a match this Saturday in Memphis. I spoke with the Match Director, and he's allowing my daughter, 9yo, to shoot 10 shots after I shoot my string that way she can start getting the experience.

She'll be using a .243 that she has shot out to 550yds to date and has done well hitting a 12" wide about 18" long piece of steel.

This will be her first time to actually shoot a competition target and have someone scoring for her.

Pics to follow Saturday after the event.

That's fantastic! Getting the young ladies involved in competition is just awesome!

My daughter's 12 and just shot her first IDPA Classifier with some of my pals last week. She was SO proud!

Good on 'ye!

Great job Jwrow! I have a feeling you're quite a father to that gal.

I try to be, to all three daughters. The 4yo will pull the trigger as fast as she can on the 10/22 just to hear it shoot. Lol.

My middle one hasn't shot yet but I'm not forcing it. She says she wants to shoot a deer, but I figure she'll come around when she's ready. If she never does, then it is what it is.

I try to be

Me too. It can be hard. Mine are full blooded females.

Ive got 3 too. Even our 2 dogs are girls! My FIL, when he came for Christmas said "Damn, I see why you load and shoot, you definitely need some man stuff around here".

How old are yours? Mine are 13, 5, and 3. I'm pretty sure we exchanged PMs quite some time ago and you mentioned one of your girls' teachers said she was counting in Spanish because of Dora-pretty sure that was you anyway...I feel your pain:)

(And yes I will be cleaning my guns when my 13 YO brings her first date home. That, or sharpening all of my knives)

Yes that was me. LOL.

They are 9, 6 and 4. Yes, my dogs are females too. I can't get away, but hey, they love to fish, hunt and shoot with the old man. Can't ask for anything more.

That sir, is the best of the best.
She'll be telling her children and grandchildren about the great experiences with her father.
