I got a new expander from RCBS for my .223 small base sizing die. It measured .2235! Caused me a lot of problems. That's another story about my disappointment with RCBS.

So now I chucked it in a drill and polished with emery paper. Whoops! It now measures .2215. I wanted to take down to .222 and I obviously messed up.

What do you think? Too much neck tension?
Thanks

Shluld work OK if you are loading boat tail bullets. If you chamfer the inside of the neck flat base may work as well. Just call RCBS and get a replacement expander button. Just be more careful next time.

I don't think too much neck tension will matter with that small variation in size. I think getting the bullet seated straight and not crumpling the neck is going to by your biggest concern. Chamfering the inside of the neck will definitely help.
