Seriously, I'll assume the car bomb was real, unless evidence shows otherwise (in which case I'll probably never find out anyway). But was it terrorists? IRA? Drug dealers? Or a plot to take out the Apple store? Who knows? Everything in the report beyond the bare facts is pure speculation.

But it's understandable why you'd doubt anything the government says. Even if they didn't plant the bomb themselves, they are sure to exploit it to the hilt. Since they're already planning to track every single car on the road, I can't imagine what more they would need. GPS-tracking every propane tank in the country?

Whatever it is, they'll think of something. Bend over, mates!

To an extent I am, but I do not believe the more outlandish claims. I believe Terrorist perpetuated 9-11 on their own, but certain powerful people in the Government knew of the plan and did nothing to stop it.

There probably was a car with bombs in it, but the real question, is who placed it there. I agree even if the Gov did not plant it, they will milk it for all its worth, and curb more Brits freedoms in the name of "War on Terrorism"

Intelligence agencies around the world where warning the CIA, and State Department that an attack on the US was imminent. Even some analyst in the CIA warned of the attack to their superiors. But neither agency shared the info with other departments that could have stopped the attack. Even some of the terrorist where known to the FBI, and CIA. But they where never apprehended. Makes one wonder.

Off-topic, but yeah, starting back in the 1300s (IIRC) when England invaded Ireland.

Investigating the guys who want to learn to fly jumbo jets, but don't need to learn how to land them, is one thing. Running a tape loop in airports to scare the peasants is something else entirely.

BTW, I've done a fair bit of flying in the last several months, and I've never seen the airports in anything other than "condition or'nge."

Yep, and if they were investigated or heaven forbid, detained, the ACLU along with every other liberal human rights/minority advocate group in the US would have sued the agency resulting in analysts and low level agents who would have detained the subjects losing their jobs for actually doing their jobs. Don't believe me? Look at the situation at Gitmo- actual real life al-queda combatants and collaborators being detained there are being represented by these groups for human rights violations like taking their holy books away from them for more than an hour at a time and not giving them a big enough playground to run around on.

Agreed. The airport security is too much/too late. Nothing like closing the barn door, nailing it shut, and encasing it in concrete after the horses are gone.
