Thanks for the heads up on it ....I just bought a 25 lb lot of the KIK 2 months ago from Powder Inc ....but I may try some next order ...the KIK is good powder , maybe some one will try some of the Diamond Back before my next order .

If anyone tries this be sure and give us a post on how you like it ...spring is here my powder won`t last long now .....

I nominate whosyrdaddy to do the testing. He's got a chronometer, disposable income, and a disposition suitable for a controlled test. :)

Take one for the team whosyrdaddy.

Well 2 out of three isn't bad, but you seem to have "disposable" and "previously disposed of" confused. :(

I would be more than happy to run those tests for you guys if you want to send a few pounds of that stuff my way. :D

If your looking for donations, I'd start with the those guys who we know have money. You know the kind, the ones that can afford real Colts and pricey Belgium knockoffs, or the ones who have lakefront property and shoot those expensive flintlocks. I hear tell that a few members here even own some originals. If I'm not mistaken, there's a famous writer lurking around here just waiting to be inspired into writing another book, come to think of it, he has a chrony too....

Here is my current shooting related "to do" list.

1) penetration test for Ginormous

2) construct " poor man's Ransom rest "

3) use above mentioned rest and chrony to test the following for accuracy and velocity
.. a) Pietta .36 '58 New Model Police
.. b) Pietta .44 '58 New Model Army 5.5 inch
.. c) Uberti Walker

4) ream chambers on all of the above mentioned to match groove diameter and alter forcing cone accordingly.

5) construct die to swag .490 balls to .472 for reamed Walker

6) repeat item 3

7) cough up the $$$ to replace 3 cylinders if items 4 or 6 go badly.

8) finish 2.5 bore smooth bore project with youngest son.

9) start on single shots pistols.........

Just let me know if I can help, I'll pencil you in.......;)

Ouch. That's a full schedule.

The penetration testing will sure be interesting. When (if) I purchase a chronometer, your stand is ripe for duplication. :D

gizmodog posted that he bought a case of Diamondback black powder. So I PM'd him asking how well it shoots and if he liked it and he replied:

last wednesday i shot about 72 rounds form 2 1858 rem revolvers using the black diamond power purchased from POWDER,INC.
no miss fires & had consistent accuracy at 25yds.
very little fouling around the forcing cone, i swabbed the bore after each six rounds with a brush dipped in hoppes #9. 20grains fffg #10 cci caps. ball seated against the powder or seated flush with front of cylinder. clean up was easy. i like this powder.
