FlashFog is a new and effective supplement to your burglar alarm. It drives off burglars in less than 20 seconds with its incredibly powerful fog and strobe light combination, which has an astonishing and instant blinding effect.

The fog is so thick that finding anything to steal is virtually impossible.

Flashfog integrates with the alarm, without any change in procedures. The fog lasts 45 minutes and fills every gap. Flashfog defends your property in the critical minutes it takes for the Police arrive.

You set and unset your alarm as usual. False alarms are not a problem, because several technologically advanced safeguards prevent them and you can easily enable smart intruder confirmation by the FlashFog itself. Each activation costs very little and the machine only requires new fluid every 10 activations or so. Adding fluid is an easy five minute job. Our fog is absolutely safe with inventory and is safe to breathe, being made out of glycol - a common FDA-approved food ingredient. With the proper alarm code it clears without a trace on its own after about an hour. It’s even safe with tobacco (flavor) or sensitive firearms (blue steel, optics).

Hmm.. neat idea. Of course if you're home when the alarm goes off (sleeping, for example) the fog works both ways. You'd have no idea whether the bad guy is running right towards you or not.

I don't even think you'd need the strobe light, just the psychological effect would be enough. Imagine it from the intruders point of view: Alarm goes off and the room starts filling with "gas"! I'd definitely need new shorts and set a speed record getting out of there.

Maybe they should make a lightly mustard or funky chemical smelling (but harmless) version?

When our burglar alarm is triggered it activates a playback unit with an entire hour of me telling my very best jokes and singing Broadway show tunes.

Less than a minute after my routine starts, most burglars fall prostrate screaming for help. Any surviving burglars call 911 begging for cops to rescue them.

Beats fog any day.

im in a 2 story house with 2 kids under 2 years old... i wouldnt want to have that go off in the middle of the night and try to get my family out of the house while seeing nothing... sounds like an idea that has limited uses... i could totally see it working in a store or a garage, but in a home with a family, it sounds like it could be trouble

Hold the phone folks.

I own/operate a security company in NE Arkansas. I am also an instructor for the state for technicians and such. We talk about this stuff every class. It is not all is cracked up to be.

First of all, if you have smoke detectors on your system they WILL go in to an alarm state when the fog is administered. Do you know what happens when the fire department gets to a location and sees smoke but noone comes to the door? They don't get to use their axes very often. This provides a great opportunity for them.

Also, Underwriter's Laboratory, UL, (to my knowledge) has not approved any of these for USA usage. If you have a non-UL listed device connected to your security system, then your insurance company is not required to pay a claim.

Again, these two items are a couple of major complaints thus far. Both of these may be argued to some point, but for the most part they are legitimate. I am not trying to 'bad-mouth' something. I am trying to educate and inform from an educated platform.

I look forward to discussing this more. It's a great topic. I have not heard of the false-alarm prevention techniques built in to the system and plan to inspect further.

Thanks.

I just visited the site and sent an email to request more information. I hope this thread survives long enough to be able to educate properly.

Again, I have no problem with these systems if they operate as perfect as they are advertised. And, before the hate-mail starts, I do recognize that even security systems have flaws.

Thanks folks.

I saw something a while back that did the same thing with pepper spray. Both seem like interesting but limited ideas.

I could see this being used in some specailized training. Very interesting!

Fog machine and strobe lights? Sounds like a rave to me...

The burglars run away but then 500 kids on XTC show up and start dancing in your living room. How is this better?

Oh sure, go ahead and laugh. But I've had them rolling in the aisles for years. There isn't a burglar alarm system available that can top my performance of "I Feel Pretty" in falsetto and I wow them with all parts of "The Jet Song" from West Side Story sung at once.

I'm thinking of selling popcorn and soft drinks to the prostrate burglars. My only problem is that they don't wait for intermission. I'm working on it though.
