Picked up a set of these but haven't used them just yet.

Based on a visual inspection, the mesh is tight enough to catch chips. (2) screens per package.

I use the full-size tumbler (with a cap at each end.) Looks like they should make 'straight-through' rinsing much easier.

Anyone else use these?

I bought a pair of them a year or so ago, still haven't opened them yet. When I run the tumbler I dump the dirty water into a three gallon plastic bucket holding the brass & pins back while draining the dirty water.
Drain most of the dirty water then catch the loose pins with a harbor freight magnet.
Fill up the tumbler and let the water overflow a couple of minutes then retumble the brass for ten minutes.
Then I drain the brass again and prep it to dry.

I might use them this summer.

I picked these up 2 years ago. They are great. It allows me to empty the dirty water without losing brass or pins. If you have a lot of fine brass shavings the screen does fill with debris, and so I rinse the screen and reinstall it to finish emptying the water. I've tried using both screens and flushing the cases, but I find it easier to just empty the dirty, refill the barrel, put it back on the drive for 2-3 minutes, rinse and repeat once more. I feel these should be included with the FART. Perhaps in the future.

I misplaced one of the screw on ends and called Frankford to buy a replacement cap. They mailed me one free of charge.

I’ve been using the screens for quite some time and definitely feel that they are necessary for a smooth operation.

How do you go about using the screens?
I bought a pair of them on ebay at least a year ago and haven't opened them yet.

You place the screen (or screens) on top of the barrel opening, lay the rubber gasket on top of the screen, then screw on the end cap. The screens have a rubberized rim, but I find it works best when I use the gaskets...though some may have had success using them alone with the screw on cap. In the end, you're not trying to make it water tight...they're screens, after all. The screen is only meant for the drain rinse drain cycle. It won't work with the clear window cup in place, and it's unnecessary with the brass screen accessory. The main purpose is to drain the dirty water out without losing pins (or other stainless media) down the drain.

Used em today on two good-sized loads of .308WIN.
After tumbling, I put a screen on one end and pour out the water into an old plastic paint bucket as a just in case to catch any pins should they make it thru, open up the other end, take a garden hose and rinse, rinse, rinse.
Flip it over, fill back with clean water and let it tumble for about 10 minutes to rinse out anything left over in there.
I use an old media separator filled with water up to the bottom of the basket. I use the screen again to dump out the water, then dump the brass and pins into the separator. Rotate slllloooow allowing the pins to drop out to the bottom.
It’s a little more work than dry tumbling , but the end result and lack of dust make it all worth it for me.
Dunno why I didn’t start using this method years ago...lol.

I got those with the tumbler, tried them once, I didn't like taking the end cap off to replace them with those wire mesh strainers just to drain off the dirty water.
You can drain most of the dirty water out, without dropping any pins with no cover, that's what I do.
With those strainer caps you still have to remove one and dump the mix into something else to separate the pins from the brass, so just an extra step.

After draining off most of the dirty water I dump the mix into a wire waste basket that's in an empty bucket with a mesh paint strainer bag in between the wire basket and bucket.
I then add water and agitate the basket so all/most of the pins fall out and into the mesh paint strainer bag.
Move the basket/brass into a second bucket of water that has another mesh strainer bag to catch any remaining pins and agitate the basket again for a 2nd rinse.
Then a 3rd water bucket for another rinse, and a final water bucket with a heavy dose of Armor All W+W to "lube the cases for sizing.

That takes less time than typing this
Strainer Bags, LT$5 for 2:

HD has others:
HDX 5 gal. Elastic Top Strainers (2-Pack)-11573/36WF - The Home Depot
The black buckets and wire mesh waste baskets from the dollar store so $5-$6.
No more pins escaping...
Oh, and I pull out the bags with the pins in them and run the bag/pins thru the rinse buckets and W+W bucket for rust, then spread out the pins/still in the bags on a towel to dry them.
