"Failure" or "Mozambique" drill...thoughts....

Great article Gabe! Articulated in a simple and easy way for anyone to understand.

Learned something new about superimposed sight on BG's face = failure to stop. Quick and simple.

Question, in a self-defense situation (not tactical entry situation), would you be sidestepping as you administer mozambique?

I think you just established whom is the true professional. Sub Minute-of Angle and still way off target. Check your windage.

CWL,

Thanks. As far as movement, I prefer to teach freedom of movement where you may be moving or may not. We find that the closer the target is, the more dynamic the movement must be, whereas the farther, the less movement you need. The best thing to do it try it and see which way works best.

The biggest objections to head shots are

1). Too hard
2). Legal Liability Problem

To #1, sure they are, but what else are you going to do? With a little practice, and using the methods I describe, it gets much easier. One thing I suggest is to tape a face target on every cardboard you shoot at, so you have a way to index the head shots.

To #2, If you were justified in shooting in the first place, a head shot won't make any difference. Your attorney MAY have to do a bit more explaining, but what's the alterbnative - standing around getting shot by the man you failed to stop?

Cheers,

Devonai,

I would have to disagree with you as to who or whom the true professional here is. Your point is valid, about SubMOA's approach. It was a tad "brusque." At the sametime, he does have a point.

Convicted criminals shouldn't be training others to shoot firearms. And, a person who commits a crime isn't a true professional, now is he/she? This "sport" or whatever you want to call it, is under enough scrutiny as it is. "High Profile" instructors who commit criminal acts, and thus, shed poorly on this "sport" does nothing to help it.

I also notice SubMOA's post was deleted. I wonder why that is? I wonder if this post will be complained about and also deleted?

Gents,

Please see the thread on Chuck Taylor. I answer mr. B. In case you didn't know, he's a troll.

Gentlemen,

Personal attacks are not permitted at The High Road. Period!

I am closing this thread and ending some good discussion on failure drills because some members can't refrain from personal attacks.

Mr. Suarez's past problems with the law are his own business. They are not relevant to this discussion or any other thread in Strategies and Tactics.

There is a lot of BS that floats around the internet. Everyone is free to post their opinions and ideas. Everyone is also free to draw their own conclusions and make their own judgements. But no one will make a personal attack on another member. Any posts making a personal attack will be deleted and the member warned. Everyone can consider this their warning on attacking Mr. Suarez.

Jeff
