Howdy, folks.

Natalya (My 1944 M44 Mosin Nagant) shoots decent groups when she wants to (Bulgarian Light Ball is her favorite). The thing is...she doesn't always shoot. It's usually 2 or 3 rounds out of 5 that don't go boom. I lift the bolt and put it back down and then she shoots. It does the same with heavy ball, light ball, Olympic FMJ and Winchester Soft Tips. The same problem happens every time. What's wrong with her? How can I fix her?

Probably getting light firing pin strikes.

You may want to check into a new striker spring, Wolff sells them.

probably striker spring. slight chance its insufficient firing pin protrusion

know that crazy tool you get with it? heres how to use it

disassembly said:
Screw the firing pin into the cocking knob until the back end is flush with the rear of the cocking knob and the slot lines up with the index mark. After fully assembling the bolt, decock it, make sure the bolt head is tight against the connector bar and check the firing pin protrusion with a gauge. The firing pin should touch the shallower (75) of the two center notches in the gauge and not touch the deeper (95) of the two center notches. If necessary, adjust by screwing the firing pin in or out of the cocking knob, always stopping with the index mark aligned.

did you dissasemble the bolt and clean the cosmoline out of the bolt? thats fixed many a milsurp bolt action as opposed to a new striker spring, if its clean and the protrusion is adjusted properly and the headspace isn't long then ya need a striker spring

Possibly weak spring, possibly your protrusion is set too far back. The former you should be able to tell if the safety is too easy to set. For protrusion there's a tool or you can google it. It's a piece of cake to adjust.

I had a problem with that one shot. I looked at the bolt when I took it out, realized that I hadn't put the bolt back together right (not enough firing pin protrusion) and re did it, and boom.
