I just bought this gun from my local store...The gun is in very good shape...Have not fired it yet.. What's a fair price in your opinion? No pictures available...Trigger is beautiful! Just curious if I got a good deal $275

What is a "good" deal depends on where you live. In IL, $400 would be a good deal. If the gun is in good condition, I would say $275 is a good deal anywhere! I have a 3" 65 and 65LS (now "MS") and I LOVE them both. Enjoy!

A follow-up question... what seems to be most accurate round? .38+P,standard pressure .38, .357 Mag. and what bullet weight and brand? Thanks...P.S. I am not reloading my own at this time (I use to)

Get yourself a box of 148 grain wadcutter rounds, (Winchester, Federal or Remington), and be prepared for a magical experience.

Ahhh for the days they gave me all I could shoot.........

Funny thing is, besides being a great target round, the wadcutters make a pretty good defense round.

That's a good deal but if it came with the original grips and box it's an excellent deal!

$275 is a pretty good deal. Around here 3" 65s in shops are running $325 for well-worn examples and I've seen mint guns priced at past $450 (although they didn't move quickly).

Michael, believe it or not our local Ace Hardware... Yes friends, Ace Hardware...I just love livin' in Southern Indiana. You can buy live fishing bait and firearms of every description!

I paid $290.00 for a 3" 65-3 including
shipping and transfer fee.It has
become my daily carry piece for the
last 2½ years.Ammo wise it prefers
a heavy bullet,anything under 140grs
and the groups start to open up.

Sounds like ok price. I paid $300 for a new one in 1996 but most stores were asking for about $340.

I just scored a 65-5 3" off gunbroker for $305, plus $20 shipping, and i was happy.
never handled one before, but it is a nice go between a L frame and a j frame.
I think i'm gonna like it.

cheers,
Derek
