I'm considering replacing the barrel on my FAL. Right now I have a surplus Imbel cut down to 16" with a brake soldered on. Accuracy is non-spectacular.

I'd like to go with an 18" military profile (don't want to add a bunch of weight with a heavier profile). I see DSA has one that fits the bill. Are there any others out there that are better?

DSA is your best bet for anything FAL. The FAL is a field accurate rifle, meaning it will hit a man sized target at 300 to 400m. But if you are looking for moa or better the FAL will most likely not fit the bill. My rifle, custom built, will hold 2 moa all day long at 100m. Which is fine for me. The holes do not have to touch as long as I can hit what I am aiming at.

In my experience (sample size one of each) the DSA .308 US made barrels are noticeably more accurate than the cut down x51 milsurp barrels.
