FAL explaination, please!!!

I have inherited a Isreali heavy barrel FAL. I am looking for magazines for it. How do I know if I need inch or metric, and what's the difference anyway? I don't know much about the rifles but I love it and want to learn. Any info is sincerely appreciated.

It should take metric, which is good as they are still quite inexpensive.

The inch and metric thing is FAQ #1 at the DSA site. That being said, the Isrealis are metric. While you're looking at the FAQ, check out their mags, too. They've got lightly used metric 20 rounders for seven bucks - best price I've seen.

Nice, an Israeli HB! They are an absolutely beautiful gun, with the wood handguards. I drool every time I see one.

First things first, go to The Fal Files , they have a untold wealth of info about the FN Fal, and your HB. Literally you can dive into the forums there today and not resurface for days or weeks.

And yes, they take Metric mags.

Look at where the magazine engages in the magazine well.

Mine does just fine. In fact I don't have a working inch pattern mag.

Some do but some allow metric mags to wobble around too much.
