Since I didn’t see an FAL section thought I’d ask it here
Alright I'm in California. I need a Kal Legal FAL. So . . .

Does anyone know if you can order a CA legal STG58 from DSA? (I know you can order the SA58 but not sure on the STG)

Your FFL has to do the order FOR you? So you just walk into the FFL tell em you want to order a DSA and all the specifics and that's it?

What are the PHYSICAL differences between the L1A1 compared to type 1-3?
Any TECHNICAL advantages one way or another?

DSA lowers are constructed of alluminum? Is the same true of the STG58?

FAL's are ndeed 7.62x51 not .308 Win? I ask because on DSA's website it often refers to .308 as opposed to sticking strictly to saying 7.62x51.

Is the STG58 basically just used Steyr parts on DSA receiver and the SA58 is U.S. new parts? Is THAT why the cost difference is half? I'd rather have the Steyr parts (I think) since it seems most people feel they are of better quality.

Thanks from an utter noob.

Enterprise arms in Irwen makes a CaliFAL on the STG58 parts http://www.entreprise.com/Fal/CA_fal.htm

Yup. Or the Enterprise or one of the other manufactures that makes Cali FALs.

No significant differences or real advantage for us at all. I've got a frankin FAL that's a mix of L1A1 and metric parts. Your real advantage comes in getting a metric lower to use the cheaper metric mags.

The Al DSA lowers are Al the steel ones are, well, steel. The STG58s are steel.

Many people will tell you this is critically important. Others don't worry about it. Ask them if you want to be certain.

The price is for the stupid Cali laws that require the manufacturer to make near one off receivers for a small market.
