LouB, that is fine shooting in my book. The little Targdot tells the story. I could not see that dot at 100yd. lol It would be like shooting at BBs at 25yd.

All the paper I shoot is plates....

But my C%R just got mailed, finding that winning nagant might take longer than this.

And my plan to buy an AK won't help a grouping challenge....

Targets must be shot using Issue sights ONLY. no scopes or optics

but what if the issue sights happen to include a scope

:D

The Mosins are not getting enough action. Given the weather this weekend I think I"m going to scratch my smokepole plans and dig out the M91 Tikka. Then we shall see.

When's the deadline on this? My Enfield is a good shooter, but I just scoped it. My Type 53 shoot patterns instead of groups, so it's not going to be competitive.

But, I plan on buying an M39 this fall, so that should be a good rifle. Might be a couple of months though.

EDIT:

Nevermind, I re-read the rules. Sounds like I need to buy the new gun before Halloween :)

Amish Fury
use the Iron sights and use the scope for spotting. Or shoot one with irons and submit it and shoot one with the scope just for comparison purposes but not for score.

I am definitely doing this shoot not sure what I am going to use though. I have a 1896 Swedish Mauser, N0.4 Mk1 Enfield, type-56 Chinese SKS, M39 Mosin Nagant. Maybe I will shoot them all.

Is there is a position requirement? If not I'll probably shoot prone.

Bro in arms.....there are no position requirements and you can use all your rifles that are original and not scoped.,you just can only submit one target per rifle.

And the end the rifle types and ammo types will be compared besides declaring who ever has the best group.:D

I was going to go out this weekend but last night I developed a crushing toothache so Im just drugged out now on painkillers.:(

my 2nd Persian mauser......I have another I might try also..

Czech BRNO Persian contract mauser in 8mm

best group I got today out of 3 volleys.S&B ammo, bore is excellent condition.Hand loaders could make this rifle very accurate.

excellent condition Remington M1917 that went through a rearsenal.Bore gauges 1 1/2 for muzzle wear.

As I shot it more, the groups opened up considerably, this was the first volley of 4,which that flyer kills me....what otherwise would have been a tight group but this one best typifies as best of the day.

The trigger is so hair on it,you gently squeeze and it fires which I still am not use to.

I have a Winchester I plan on using also.

and my big disappointment..............Remington M1903 made in 1942

I hope others contribute a M1903 NON 03a3 to this thread because all 03's can't be this inaccurate.....

Bore has some frost, bore gauge measures at 2 for muzzle wear.

I have had this rifle for a little, while first off trying to sight it in is hard,it has several sighting systems most of which don't lend well to 100 yd shooting and the sights are incredibly hard to see even more so than mausers except when using the ladder triangle sight.

I can barely keep hits on the black, the rifle shoots patterns more like a shotgun and is basically MOA of a beachball.I sure would like to try another 03 because this rifle just seems to have accuracy issues and I don't know why.Even with hard to use sights accuracy should be better....

Can I enter my Norinco SKS? If not I removed the sights from my M44 recently and........let's just say they're not going back on..........ever. If so it still has the original sights but some time back in the late 70s-early 80s it along with about 300 others were imported to a factory in Cali where the barrels were cut down to 16" and paratrooper stocks put on them, it's roughly 25 years old and has only had about 100 rounds or less through it

Two questions..

aftermarket triggers allowed ex.. Huber Concepts - or is everyone going stock?

&

Does the yugo m48 mauser count? I don't know if it was issued to any troops.

If it does I'll be back with the targets from my ol'skool :)

Yugo definately counts!....it better because I just got 2 24/47 Yugos that I plan on using.Would like a M48 also.

I don't think if they were not issued is a problem, they were still Yugo military rifles right?....I think? The M48 was never a true Yugo military rifle used by them?

SkS should count also.Just no altered sights and stuff.

Now something like a Universal carbine that is really a aftermarket copy, then no.

but this is just my opinion, the Mods have the say so.

Coincidentally, I happened to shoot paper plates this very day, and happened upon this thread.
These don't count for your contest as they're more than 5 shots, and the carbine is at 50 yards, and I didn't measure... but anyway...

That's a 9-inch plate FYI
