I've been looking for an inexpensive 12ga SxS with an English stock and splinter forend, double triggers and interchangeable chokes. I want this for casual sporting clays and upland hunting.

I was thinking about a really low-end gun (a Stoeger Uplander in particular), but I stopped at the new local Cabela's today and fell in love.

They're selling the Fausti "Style" set up exactly like I would want, and it's even on sale for $1400. It's almost 3 times what I was thinking about spending, but it seems to be a damn nice shotgun. I was under the impression it was a Cabela's exclusive, but I think this is in error.

Does anyone here have experience with midgrade Faustis like this one?

Also, I'm chumming for general advice on a SxS in this price range with these features. I very much like this Fausti, but I've only been able to find Berettas, Weatherby d'Italias and CZs to compare against locally. I don't want to mail order a gun.

I'd have to second oneounceload's comments and lean toward the SKB. If you choose this route I would have to really recommend the SKB 280 I in a 20 gauge I haven't really found a better carrying field gun if you like straight/English stocks.

I was able to check out a Browning today - not for me. Much heavier and it felt dead.

The Fausti followed me home.

Thanks for the comments!
