I've about run out of my supply of BlueDot and I'm thinking of trying something new in my 357 Sig loads.

I use 9.5 grains of Alliant BlueDot with a Berry's 124gr HP plated bullet (but will be switching over to berry's Hollow Base flat point 124 gr when I run out of my current supply.

I would love to know what powders everybody likes in 357 Sig.

I like AA#9 for that caliber. It fills the case and helps with preventing bullet setback in the short neck. It's also very, very accurate.

Hope this helps.

I won't use Longshot; too much muzzleflash for PD cartridges. See

...both MF albums.

I use nothing but Barnes 125g. TAC-XP bullets. They're looong...

...(shown with a Montana Gold 125g. HP) and HS-6 is absolutely the best for high velocities at acceptable pressures. The charges fill the cases, and they have VERY low MF, too.

Longshot and AA #9 seem to be the popular choices. I'm intrigued by the HS-6 because part of my desire to find an alternative to BlueDot is to find something with less muzzle flash. I'll pickup a pound each of a few of the powders mentioned and run some test loads.

I have shot quite a bit of HS6 (Win 540) in my model 31 glock... I have a good supply of it because I use it in my 20 Ga 1 oz loads too....it shoots very well ....

If you would like some high velocity ... try some 800X ... it does not meter too well, but it will give you some high FPS...

...speak for themselves, if only folk would look at them--IF IF IF you're loading PD cartridges, use a powder with LOW muzzleflash. After all, it's only your life you're gambling...would you like to be blinded by your own gun while you're defending yourself in a lo-lite situation?
