Anyone here happen to load for the 460 S&W? I'm curious to see what your favorite loads are for it.

I like Hornady's 240 and 300 gr XTP-MAGs over a moderate dose of H110/W296 or IMR4227. Speer's 300 gr Deep Curl(formerly Gold Dot HPs) are good shooters also. I've found you don't have to load the .460 hot in order for it to perform well. Most of my loads are in the middle of published recipes. Flattened primers are the norm in the .460, but sticky extraction means you need to back off. Some of the newer .460s have tighter throats than the first models and will exhibit signs of excessive pressure from load recipes that shot well in older models. Recoil in Encores and rifles in this caliber without the cylinder gap and compensator can be harsh with stout loads. If using recipes from the Hodgdon website, I recommend you start at their minimum loads.

The only handload I've tried so far is a Hornady 240xtp-mag over 44.4 gr of Enforcer. I liked the results so much, I never tried anything else. That will change once I get the new Hornady manual and the 200 gr flextip bullets.

Just so you know you can print out a load sheet for the 200 gr FTX off of hornady's website. and it matches the book but for the lowest load with Blue dot

I can find the bullet on the site but not the load data. What should I look under?
