I`ve reloaded a little and found that the slightest change in powder, lead brass, etc. can really throw your accuracy for a loop. A different brand of lead of the same weight and type can even build you a "flyer"

What`s your favorite combo of powder, brass, lead that you use to achieve the best performance and accuracy for your handgun caliber?

And is the difference worth doing it?

I'm a pretty lousy shot, but I have noticed better groups with Hornady XTPs in 9mm. I don't know if this is psychological; i.e., I'm shooting better because I'm taking more time to aim since I'm shooting expensive bullets, not bulk 115gr FMJ.

Hornady XTP in 9mm and 38 Spl, and Remington 115gr JHP in 9mm. I just started casting for both calibers, an so far the 38 loves LSWC cast 158gr Lee C358-158-SWC. I will be checking many other bullet styles, as casting is saving me hassle and money.

armordedman, which remingtons? The cheap JHPs, or the Golden Sabers. I've noticed my Walmart Remington UMCs look a lot like Hornady XTPs.

Masterblastersbullets dot com is a good source for accurate target bullets. I have found that with a proper charge of the right powder these bullets will shoot better than I do.

I have also found that they seem to like a firm crimp in .40 cal.

4.7 grains of Titegroup 180 grain MB bullet, and whatever brass and primer and I'm good to go.

45 ACP

Most accurate loads by Gun:

Sig P220 - 4.4" Barrel - 4.2 gr HP-38, WLP Primer 230gr FMJRN OAL=1.2
Full Size 1911 - 5" Barrel - 8.6 gr AA#5 WLP Primer 230gr FMJRN OAL 1.25
Kimber Ultra Tac II - 3.25" Barrel - 8.6gr HS6 WLP Primer 230gr FMJRN OAL 1.25

What surprised me about this is that the slower burning HS-6 worked best in the shortest barrel but worst in the 4.25" Sig Barrel and OK in the 5" barrel. I would have thought that a faster burning powder like Titegroup would have worked best in the 3.25" barrel.

The AA#5 load is extremely accurate in the full sized 1911 but actually sucked in the Sig and was good in the Kimber.

HP-38 sucked for me in the 1911 and Kimber but works like a charm in the SIG.
