Fawn distress for does ?

Anyone use a fawn distess call for does ? Does it work all season or just early season ? I had read they come rushing in all pumped up. -Thanks
 
I've used them bow hunting and had mixed results. I've had them came in, sometimes a few at a time and I've had them hang up out of sight and bust me.
 
Same here. In WVA, I had a doe run in on me so fast she almost ran me over. Other times I blew it and the does walked right by without so much as a glance.
 
Don't know what you're hunting but fawn distress works great for mule deer does. I've called in bucks too, but usually it is does. They come in hard sometimes. They seem to lose interest pretty quickly it seems like, I'd recommend being fairly busy with the call. That has been my experience at least.
 
I have used my mouth and held my nose while making a high-pitched nasal bleat that sounds like a lamb to me. By doing this I have called does from as far as 120 yards away but they always bust me when I draw. They have zeroed in on the sound and know where to look. I have had better luck using it to call in coyotes. They didn't look up in the tree.
 
either im doing it wrong or its a total waste of time in my experience.

I will say it only works for mule deer in my experience. We have a subspecies of whitetail in Arizona called the Coues whitetail, it is a miniature variety. I have only called one Coues doe in, but have seen many running away/leaving the area when I start calling. They don't like it at all. Conversely, it's nothing to call in mule deer. When I'm calling coyotes in mule deer country, I'm usually calling in mule deer as well. Rabbit distress works too, they sound similar enough.

For regular whitetails, I have no idea. If they respond the same as the Coues whitetail, it will be basically a waste of time. If they respond at all like mule deer, then it's a great way to hunt.
 
I've never been able to draw in a Doe with a fawn distress call but have been able to attract the attention of several coyotes and foxes. Great predator call in my opinion.
