You've gotta wonder if the bullet which didn't expand might've also been one where the notching/skiving cuts weren't within spec. Can you tell under close examination if the skiving cuts were completely through the jacket? Then again, it might've done differently if it had hit bone right away, too, and experienced core upset & jacket deformation.

Still seems as thought it would make for a decently penetrating hunting/feral animal defense load.

The unexpanded bullet looked normal.

Interesting that Fed calls it a JSP. Good penetration, indeed. I'd be concerned about the inconsistent results. I expect expansion even at velocities a bit less than 1,200fps. Thanks for the test, fastbolt.

Would probably expand 100% from a carbine, but from a pistol it's not much better than FMJ.
