Federal Fusions in action?

I've shot over 75 deer with rifles still have not recovered any bullets. Had some blow up but all passed through be cool be get one someday.
I've only had one exit that wasn't a neck shot. I shoot light for caliber bullets. I usually find a mangled chunk of lead. Nothing like Loonwolf's classic looking bullet.

These fusions are holding together we'll, it also appears to be expanding ok as long as bones are hit.
My normal loads are soft 160s at about the same speed, and these 140s are out penetrating them by a bit. Might be able to drop a weight class and add velocity.
Where we are hunting tomorrow, likely will have farther shots.

Well probably go out one more time at least, and I've got plenty of meat. So I can be picky, if I shoot another I'll try for a neck shot.
Looks like dropping a weight class may be for the best, tried wrecking a shoulder? Those fusions don't come apart for nothing, but they are not what I'd call dramatic by any means, on lighter game I'd guesstimate that very high speed impacts would be in your favor, we don't even try em on pronghorn out here, but the muleys provide slightly better results than you seem to be experiencing...... I'm think if I go for elk in the next couple years I'll give em another look.

I've clipped the scapula, but haven't hit it square. The one I pulled out actually looked a lot like I expect monometals to look.
Internal damage has also been pretty similar. As long as you hit bones it should be fine.

That bullet might work well when you go cow hunting again.

It's plenty tough enough that's for sure lol. Unfortunately Im pretty sure the cow hunts are done.
I've shot up most of the 5 boxes I bought, think I've got 15 or so rounds left, so once these are done I'll be using handloads in this gun again. My wife's .243 will continue to shoot the 95s tho.
