I searched and all the dates I found about the Nyclads was outdated by a few years has anyone purchased any and Does anyone have any they kept..I need some when I'm working opposed to standard rounds I would only need around 30 rounds a few to shoot to see how my Colt Detective special handles them and Some for when I'm on My Job ,Thanks

You should be able to order Nyclad ammo. Federal's website shows it as a current production item.

Did you see the price of those Nyclad rounds on the gunbroker link? I was about to freak at the $110 price tag until I realized that was for 139 rounds which is still high but not what I thought it was initially! I thought someone actually bid $110 for a 50 round box!

The standard pressure .38 Special Nyclads shoot very well in my Chief's Special. I have not tried them in my Detective Special yet.

I love the Nyclad round. I still have quite a few and purchase replacements from time to time.

Cocked & Locked,

Two very nice pistols!

What is the allure of the NyClads? Metal penetration?

Not at all. It is a standard pressure loading which still gets pretty good velocity and generally exhibits good expansion from snubbies and is useful in airweight revolvers, especially older ones, because it is not high pressure and the nylon "jacket" over a dead soft lead core allows for that good expansion while preventing leading of the barrel. It also has mild recoil.

It is likely one of the worst metal penetrators.

It also minimizes airborne lead propagation for indoor range use. Breathing a bunch of lead particulates doesn't do you any favors over the years.
