I am looking for a small double action .45 to go with my Sistema and Kimber Pro Tactical II.

I have seen negative comments on the older Mil PT145's but not on the Mil Pro's. I have only seen positive comments, from a reliability standpoint, on the CS45. The PT145, weighs almost the same, seems slightly smaller and carries 4 more rounds but I am nagged by the feedback on the older 145's.

I have done searches on both of these but would greatly appreciate any input and/or recent experiences on the above pistols.

steelhead, welcome to THR.

Its true that the older Millenium PT pistols had several problems. Seems most of the bugs are worked out.

The Millenium Pro series seems to have been put together alot better.

I think they are worth a serious look at.

CDNN has the spare mags for sale now at $19 new

Heck, I might even order some of them mags cause I am eventually gonna give this pistol a try.

Can you post a link to those mags? I looked and could not find them. They list plain PT-145 mags for $25, but I was told by Taurus that the Mil-Pro has to use a Mil-Pro mag, no other versions will fit.

I love my PT-145 MilPro. It is stainless w/ the night sights. Have not had a bit of trouble with it. It is definitely worth a look.

Dunno, havent tried it. I still have to buy a PT145 first.;)

I'd say order one and give it a try. If it doesnt work, send it back to CDNN. They are pretty good on returns.

Do a search on "Taurus" "Millenium".
I'm pretty sure someone posted an unfavorable review of a Millenium Pro within the last couple of weeks.
i can't remember what the problem was.
Could be wrong.

Well, I went ahead and bought the Mil Pro PT145. It was $275 less than the CS45 and the grip fit my hand better (my pinkie kept slipping over the the bottom of the S&W grip). Plus the additonal 4 rounds is not so bad either. I also found the sight picture was faster with the Taurus than the S&W as the sights are slightly larger. Sort of reminded me of the XS Sights I have on my Kimber and 640-1. I was also able to compare the Mil Pro to the regular PT145. There is a huge difference in the trigger pulls and the controls also feel better on the Mil Pro.

My neighbor has a P9 and I decided to mess with him a little by asking him if he heard about Khar making a new .45 ACP. I then asked him if he would rather have 7+1 of 9MM in his P9 or 6+1 of .45 in a P45. He answered affirmative on the .45. I then pulled out the PT145 and said, how about 10+1. We compared the 2 pistols and the PT145 neatly matches the P9 with the width and weight being the exceptions.

Grayrock & Lennyjoe, I had a strange experience with the extra mag I bought. The package simply said PT145 and the store owner said it would fit. I tried it out at home and it would not seat. So I went back and they could not get it to work. I mentioned that the mags were different between the Mil Pro and the Mil and they stated they had not been told that. The owner pulled off another mag marked the same way as the last and it worked in the pistol just fine. We also pulled a mag from another Mil PT 145 and it worked fine as well in the Mil Pro. Don't know what to make of it.

So far, I am real pleased with the purchase but time will tell. I plan to run at least 500 rounds before I use it for carry until then my 640-1 will remain my primary choice for when added concealment is needed or a backup.

I also found out today that the Mill Pro and the older Mill mags wont interchange. Sorry about that.

I also fondled a Mill Pro today at the local gunshop and the trigger felt pretty good. Also, liked the feel. I might just have to take the plunge and find out for myself.

Damn good price on that pistol. Local they are $339 for the blue ones.

Forgive me denfoote;)
