A problem I have experienced, with age, is a shift in the “natural“ place(s) to wear a weight-bearing belt, combined with a proliferation of low-rise trousers seeming to be the only type readily available. One “natural” placement for a gun belt, for comfort, is lower than the belt line of the trousers I normally wear. Another ”natural” placement is well about the belt line of the trousers I normally wear. One way to carry a gun at this lower position is to use a PHLSTER Enigma, completely underneath my trousers. Some “belly bands” would offer a similar placement. The higher placement would require higher-waist trousers, if I want to carry a in a holster at belt-loop level. I may try a police supply store, to see if I can get some trousers like I was issued, by the PD, back in the day.
For reference, I can still wear a size 34” belt, at six feet tall, so, serious “over-weight-ism” is not a significant factor. I do have an “Irritable” lower gut, which can seriously vary the shape of the front of my abdomen, from day to day, depending upon what I have eaten the previous day. This does not affect my lower “natural” position, but can affect my higher position, so, I have belts in larger sizes, to use as needed.
I certainly empathize with the DGS folks. (Diminished Glute Syndrome.) To this, I can the related DDS and DLS; Diminished Deltoids and Diminished Lats Syndromes, which means that the “drape” effect of my shirts, vest and jackets is diminished.
