Talk me into or out of another pocket pistol.

OK....I can go with that...I also agree...if you like that belly ban thing, etc...good for you. For me pocket concealment is what I go with and is perfectly concealed and readily deployed.

OK>>> LOADED QUESTION!!!!
.38 special or .357? I have only shot .357 in large heavy revolvers so I am wondering about recoil. I am not recoil sensitive, but heavy recoil makes for slow shooting.

A light weight alloy frame snubby will have plenty of felt recoil with .38 Special +P. If you were to get a light weight .357 magnum snub nose, I bet you wouldn't shoot but a few magnums out of it before you just loaded it up with .38 +P.

My particular alloy framed snubby is 17 oz and has a hard polymer grip, no cushioning rubber of any kind. There are lighter versions out there so I can imagine the felt recoil on those would feel greater. In my case, my snubby filled with +P has much more felt recoil than my 22.5 oz Glock 36 with standard 230 grn. .45 ACP ammo.

I don't know if that helps or not. :D

OK, I am not going to go with a .357....

.38+p is there right around what a 9mm will do, 9mm is plenty for me.

I appreciate the suggestions for Rohrbaugh and Kahr, but I am a broke ass nobody with room in my pockets for a pistol because I have no money in them!!! lol

I am a pig farmer! Pig farmers are not known for having tons of cash around! lol

I purchased a Glock36 when they were introduced and carried it for several years. I experienced issue with concealment and finally opted for a Kahr PM-9 in a pocket holster. That PM-9 is my constant companion.

I don't know how people do the IWB thing all day everyday, usually gives me a nice sore spot after a day and that's using a good belt and holster.

Definitely do the pocket gun thing, I've been doing it for many years now. It would be one thing if all you could get were .25's, but things are different these days.

I cant afford a micro 9 or I would go that way.

You might be pleasantly surprised by this: http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4416714#post4416714

Pic's at the bottom of the page, it should retail for about $400.

That said pocket .380s are fine for back up and easy concealment. I have to stop myself from only carrying my LCP. Gotta stop from being lazy and strap my glock 26 on when it's entirely practical. It's good to have to guns of the same type, in case one breaks, get's lost or stolen, or confiscated by the police.

"Couple of thousand rds only."

What is the weight of the trigger pull?
Is it consistent through the pull or does it stack?
How do you compare felt recoil to other smaller 9's?

I can't really talk you out of one because IMO a good pocket pistol is what I really need. I do have a pocket pistol but it's a Beretta Model 1935 which is 56 years old, so it's a collectible. Although it's a beautiful little gun and would probably be up to the task, the 180-degree rotation of the safety is IMO a massive shortcoming. And being single action, leaving the safety off is a not an option!

I did it! I really was open to the idea of a J-frame. The hammerless 5rd 38sp was as fine as frog hair in my pocket. I kept waffling over the 5rd capacity though. I then saw this...

It is a Bersa Thunder 380 CC in nickel finish. Gently used, $225. It seems like an awfully nice gun for the price. It is thin, light, and disappears in my pocket. I shot it a little at a snow pile in my drive way. It feels good in my hand and seems to cycle ball pretty good. I will have to check it out for accuracy now.

I had a Glock 27 w/ night sights and a crimson trace for carry but never carried it because it was not comfortable at all and ended up getting rid of it (also didn't enjoy shooting it) for a larger framed G17 for the range/competition and an LCP for pocket carry and now carry all the time because the LCP is comfortable. Better to carry a the small 380 vs no gun at all. Guess it is all up to what is comfortable for the individual.

Have you tried upgrading your holster for your G26...? The reason being is I haven't found any garment short of a speedo that a crossbreed super tuck deluxe won't conceal my G27 in ... I even concealed it under the cumberbun of a tuxido once! I think pocket guns make great BUGs, but I can hammer nails with a G27 or 26 ... and even enjoy shooting several boxes of ammo at the range ... which can't be said for any pocket gun (for me at least). I comfortably carry my G27 IWB (secret is - get a good belt too...) in any attire - shorts, pants, jeans or anything else w/ belt loops. It is also fast to put on/take off - 10 secs. max.

Paying money for a good, quality CC holster is often overlooked - and will be much less expensive than buying any firearm.

Good luck on your search...

I'm with those that suggested a J-Frame revolver. The 642 is a Centennial-style, so it is DAO, and will be somewhat like the Glock in that every shot has the same trigger pull. I would also recommend Taurus Models 85 Ultra-Lite (with hammer, or spurless) or the 850 Ultra-Lite CIA (enclosed hammer, like the S&W 642). I have Taurus and S&W's and I always have one in my pocket, regardless of what else I am carrying.

I am a pig farmer!

I'm a feedcrop farmer and I also recommend a J-frame.

Although I have a LCP and carry it when I have light dress slacks and a buttondown shirt on, In work clothes, a J-frame is my pocket-gun of choice.

One reason is because I carry two speed strips in my strong side rear pocket, each one having five SWCHP and one shotload for copperheads, which I'm going to run into occasionally while doing farm chores.

The other reason, (besides the .38 FBI load being considerably stronger than a .380 round) is that farmers get dirty and our pockets do too. Revolvers take the abuse better, IMO.

I have a 442 that I carry in a #3 Blackhawk pocket holster and I recommend the 442/642 highly. I prefer, however, to carry my 637 2-1/2"bbl (in a Desantis Nemesis), when my pockets are big enough, and indeed most of my workpants do have big enough pockets for this slightly longer Airweight.

I have an Comp-Tac MTAC, it is a very high quality near copy of the Supertuck. It is a fine holster that conceals my 26 perfectly. I do agree that the cross breed style is IMHO the only way to go for IWB. I mostly carry in a DeSantis Speed Scabbard, It covers well with even a hoodie. I also have a Serpa for the range and a Nemesis pocket holster to make a quick trip to the store. I hang it all on a Wilderness Instructor 5 stitch.

The reason for the pocket gun is for occasional LAZINESS, physical activity, and when I simply go without a shirt in the summer. The G26 is very concealable weapon, but it is still a heavy, fat, square Glock. Sometimes a feather light, skinny pocket gun is what I need.

This Bersa Thunder CC seems to fit the job description nicely. I sold the LCP because I didn't like it and I shot it poorly. This Bersa is a larger than an LCP, but it is much smaller lighter than my Glock. I can shoot it well, and I do like it.

I took it out and put about 75 rounds of FMJ through it this afternoon. It seems to be very accurate. I picked up a few different varieties of HP ammo tonight, we will see what it likes.

Thanks to this wonderful community, I was able to pull up several user reviews of this pistol and saw allot of positive feedback right on my phone in the store. Thank you THR!
