Feral Hog Hunting ~~~~Texas

I live in Colorado and my husband and I want to go hog hunting before I leave for basic in November. I have never gone but I am intrigued and so want to go. Does anyone have land that they would be willing to let us shoot on if we came out there?
 
I live outside San Antonio and constantly see hog hunting opportunities, for a small fee...of course, on Craigs List. Look up the town you're thinking of visiting on CL and check the "For Sale" "Sporting" section. I've been wanting to do this with my teenage daughter. That would be a fun daddy-daughter night!! Good luck. What part of the state are you thinking about visiting?
 
Sad to say, I have a tremendous problem with hogs. I have just about talked my wife into letting me drop a couple of hogs. She doesn't like hunting on our place, but the hogs are tearing everything up. They got on our lawn the other morning, which just ripped her.:cuss:

I think I may try traps before shooting but my friends are looking for a place to shoot.
 
There are limited places for public hunting in Texas. I do know of the Grasslands up here north Texas area. Texan's are proud of being land owners. When it comes to be able to hunt here, it helps to know the land owners, ranchers, and farmers. Nowadays it is seldom seen to where you can just walk up to the property knock on the door and ask if you can hunt. Too many people are sue happy which makes the land owners not want you hunting on their property. You can PM Flintknapper and he can definitely vouch for that statement. Good luck on your search.

Right, if the hunter allowed to hunt on your property ends up shooting another person, it won't just be the hunter who ends up with a civil suit filed against him. The landowner will as well. The same applies should the hunter shoot one of the neighbor's prized cattle. About the only way the landowner isn't going to be liable for such mishaps is if the hunter is trespassing and hence hunting illegally. Hogs may be a problem, but a minor problem compared to being wiped out financially in a wrongful death lawsuit. So there is significant financial risk to allowing people to hunt on your property.
