Hi everyone. Ive got a few quick questions for you all. Ive decided Im going to buy a CMP service grade HRA Garand and I was thinking about driving up to the north store to try and find the best one.
Here are my questions.
1) Do I have to be a resident of Ohio to purchase a rifle there?
2) Is the price any different to buy it in the store then it is to buy it with a mail in order and have it shipped to you?
3) Do you have to pay Ohio sales tax if you buy it in store?
Any help would be appreciated.

Call them

If they are anything like the Alabama store you will not be disappointed. They will answer all your questions. You need to check out hours of operation anyway. I believe they have a two week closing soon if it's not already in progress. Take a towel with you to clean up the drool.

1. NO, but you must be a member of CMP
2.Shipping of around 24.00 will be added...an here its taking long time for some to get them
3...?..Have you been on the CMP website?..they have an email an can answer more...go to yahoo search an type in CMP.com

I've been to the Camp Perry store a few times and bought rifles there.

Very good idea to go and pick your own rather than just get one off the pile.

Go to their web site and get all the particulars about meeting the requirements. But its not a big deal, you do have to belong to an org. afflitled with the CMP, ie; the Garand Collectors club, American Legion, AMVETS, ect., ect. Most charge around $25 yearly membership.

Good Luck

The website says they are closed from the 15th to the 31st. So basically its the same price whether you buy it in person or through the mail.
jcwit- Ive already joined the Garand Collectors Association and I have my CCW so I have the requirements met already.
I think it would be fun to make a trip out of it, the only obstacle is getting the wife to go.

It's a trip you will enjoy, don't know about your wife. Mine goes with me, of course she's special, to me anyway.

Best time to go is in the summer while they have the matches, and take in commercial rows and the matches.

That sounds like it would be fun but Im itching to get mine pretty soon so I can head to the range with it. My wife would most likely go with me just so she wouldnt have to be home alone while Im gone.

You will pay sales tax at the CMP store.

You don't do a 4473, the CMP form is equivalent. Read page 2 of the order form on CMP website.

NICS is done at the store. The NICS fee is incorporated in the sale price.
