FFL recommendations for transfers near Ft. Lewis, WA

Looking for a good FFL that has reasonable transfer fees near Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Seattle, etc. Washington state.

I consider "reasonable" to be $30 or less for the first gun, with smaller fees for additional guns.

I've bought from Bullseye in Tacoma and Surplus Arms & Ammo (right off exit 123, tucked behind and sharing a parking lot with Tactical Taylor), and bought misc targets from The Marksman off Canyon Road in Pullyup.

I've only transferred through Bullseye and would not recommend them unless they've changed. It was $50 and I got hit up for the WA 9.3% sales tax. It's a good thing Century gave me free shipping, otherwise the difference between the online price vs the 'out the door price' would have practically paid for the last gun I bought; a M1895 Nagant ($120 to your front door with a 03 FFL )

BTW, Surplus Arms & Ammo is pretty competitive on bulk ammo prices. Definitely give them a look if you haven't already.

Ask around at the Outdoor Rec center on North Ft. Lewis. They have an FFL and may do the transfer for you. Also check out www.seattleguns.net

WA State requires that the 9.5% State "use tax" be collected on all FFL transfers. Oh yeah, you have to pay the "use tax" on the shipping too.

If Seattle isn't too far...Capital Loans in Capital hill and in West Seattle charges $25 FFL transfers for Pistols or rifles.

I have had 2 FFL transfers with the Capital Hill location with no problems. The Tax will be near 10% due to being in Seattle.

The big question is if, since they're on post, you don't have to pay the 9.3% (or more, depending on county) WA tax.

I know this post is a little dated, but:

The Northwest Adventure Center on North Ft Lewis is not required to collect the use tax since it's on federal property. They charge a $30 transfer fee, which must be prepaid. Most of the people working in there are good folks. I've done transfers in there before and haven't had any trouble.

Cabelas is 25.00 per transfer.

Yes, but if you do a transfer at Cabelas you'll get nailed with the WA usage tax, which is going to be a LOT more than the $5 extra the Northwest Adventure Center charges for the transfer. I haven't bought a non C&R gun here in the last 2 years, but I was just talking to a guy who transfers all his through the Adventure Center tax free. He said they'll order most anything for you too.

My son just bought a sig at the PX so he didn't have to pay transfer fees or tax.
They said they would order him what ever he wanted.
Wish he wanted to buy me another Kimber.

FFL's are required by law to charge WA State use tax, don't know why you guys are thinking this is optional.

Wrong.

Since posting this, I've purchases from Northwest Adventure Center, paid the $30, and no tax. Others correctly stated that it's on Fed land and not subject to WA tax.
