I'm thinking of trading a .25 acp FIE Titan to a friend for some work. Am I doing him a favor or are these guns junk? Considering the gun is in about 80% condition what would be a fair price?

They are actually not bad guns. 100 in a trade seems completely fair.

I have a fondness for the Titan II pistols. I have 3 of 'em stored away with a dozen magazines. One of 'em unfired with with box, one carried some, and one a little worn from being carried often back in the late 80's early 90's. The worn one had save my butt a couple of times. I don't think I will ever get rid of that one.

These pistols were made by Tanfoglio and imported by the now defunct FIE. Contrary to popular opinion, these guns are not pot metal. They are all steel, at least mine are. The two I'd shot functioned flawlessly. I would expect the same from the unfired one. The only downside, aside from the anemic cartridge, is that it does not have any type of hammer block. Not a good idea to carry with one in the pipe. Accuracy is on par with my Colt Vest Pocket, P32, & Beretta Bobcat.

Around $100 to $125 would be today's value for a piece in decent condition. For my unfired one with box & papers, I've seen 'em running close to $200, I kid you not.

They're solid steel, with a fixed barrel, and are as accurate and reliable as a Beretta in .25ACP. Tanfoglio made good guns, and magazines and parts are still fairly available. I think I paid about $75 for mine, used, some years ago, and I've seen them at gun shows since in the $100-$150 price range.

$100 isn't outrageous. They are well made little pistols. 3 different varaitions of firing pins.. ask me how I know ;)

Gunpartscorp has a bunch of parts,

The thread prompted me to take a look at mine. I remember some metal missing from the front of slide where the recoil spring sits. This made me think it was pot metal.I just checked and it is steel. I just Dremelized it, to smooth it up. I have no idea what caused the damage but not being pot metal, I feel much better and am sure it will be fine. I bought the thing new, for my Dad, with help from Mom, in the mid 70's. It has never jammed or failed to fire. ;) Thanks for thread !
