Well, after 4 months of playing with handloads and waiting for an opportunity, I finally got a chance to go blow up some praire rats yesterday using this new rig. I must say, Ruger has come a long, long way with their rifles if mine is any indication. Bench rest 200 yard groups turned up an average of 1.56" for five shots (average of 4 groups) using 55 gr. moly coated V-maxes over 43.2 grains of H414 for a MV of 3917 FPS (20 round average). Anyway, with most shots being 150-400 yards, 67 rounds sent 29 rats to their maker over 6 hours. I don't think I'll ever use another round for praire dogs again. The .220 shoots so fast and so flat that I was actually able to pull off two kills at over 600 yards (7 shots, though).
So if anyone else is interested in the .220, the Ruger definitely seems to yeild results.
