I'm heavier now, but for years I carried a full size 1911 when I was 6'0 165lbs. Concealed. A good holster and belt make all the difference in the world. Now its mostly a lw commander sized. The weight makes a bigger difference than the size. The slimness of the 1911 makes it easy to carry.

Carrying a gun needn't be comfortable, but it should be comforting.

Uh, yes it should be. For the extreme majority of folks, if carrying is too uncomfortable or too great an incumbrance, they'll abandon the lifestyle.

If the only gun I had to carry was a full size, I wouldn't carry it very often.

Sure, carrying a full size can be done, but sooner or later the carrier usually looks for something smaller.

Yep. Going on four decades and I expect it to happen any day now.
