Bought a NIB Gen 4 G23 that was cerakoted by the distributor. Looked cool and was unique.
Trigger was awful. Gritty and over 7 lbs. Installed a Glock OEM minus (-) connector and polished it and the trigger bar.
Got it to 5.5 lbs, but still gritty and creepy. Took it to the range and had horrible accuracy. Accuracy started to improve the more rounds I put through it.
Before:
In frustration, ordered a new Timney Alpha Glock assembly, that I was hoping to get to 4 lbs with a heavier connector.
While watching a couple of Johnny Glock videos, I watched one in which he chased trigger issues with Glocks. A light bulb went off.
So worked on my G23 and discovered several issues. First, the safety plunger was damaged and it's hole was filled with grit.
So, sanded and polished as best I could and cleaned out all orifices in the slide and reassembled.
Then took the trigger assembly apart and did some more polishing and tweaked the connector inboard, and sanded away some cerakote from the inside of the frame where the trigger bar and connector were rubbing.
Put everything back together and was rewarded with a smooth pull but still about 5.5 lbs.
Then I got a wild hair thought and grabbed my G35 match gun and tested it's pull; perfect at 4.25 lbs.
So I swapped out the entire trigger assembly from the G35 into the G23, and vice versa.
G23 now has a perfect carry weight of 4.5 lbs, no grit, perfect wall, and safe with all OEM parts.
G35 now has a 5 lb pull that feels pretty good. I will be installing the Timney trigger in it for competition use only.
