I have three levers, two 30-30, one 300 Savage, and a Ruger Mini 14 and.....

I'm thinking I would like an AR in .223/5.56 to compliment, utilize and share the ammunition I have accumulated (OBama Era accumulation). Also for investment and hedge against future unavailability.

Primary use, PD and range duty sufficient for proficiency at this time since I am busy with work and don't get much time to shoot.

Price range $1500 includes shipping. I don't see myself doing much accessorizing at this time so I would like something complete with quad rails (maybe a light), flat top, with open sights initially until optics come along.

I have been looking at the Ruger 556C model PN 5905 (very complete) and S&W SPX. which needs sights. Both are piston designs adding a pound, which is ok. I already have had positive customer service experience with both Companies and don't really yearn for something exotic and requiring much babysitting and a warranty that expires in a year!A year or two from now I might like to add an 6.8 upper at some point for a little reach and gaming.

Name your top three AR recommendations. Remember must be complete with the exception of optics. I am not sold on the piston design nor do I have any bias against DI, but I am going to only do one AR so I'm thinking piston as a single solution for the line-up. I have been researching, reading and comparing for six months, I've been to all the websites and their Forums. I have been to all the major players websites and looked at their line-ups. I don't want to do a build.

Thanks for your help.
I would need to order this in as a transfer so if you could recommend a reliable dealer for your choice that would be great.

LMT Defender Standard Patrol Model 16 - $1230 from here.

Noveske 16" Light Recce - $1480 from here.

Any rifle from Bravo Company USA - $1025 to $1319 depending on model, but any will serve well for whatever you may need it for. Info on each is here, order form is here. BCM is my number-one company and my highest recommendation, as I have more experience with them than any other (aside from LMT's parts, which are also top tier).

Rear sight not included with any of the above (if I remember right), but range in price anywhere from $60 to... however much you want to spend.

All my other favorites are above your price range.

All my favorites are above my price range too, but then I do want to add a semi-auto shotgun into the mix too. Benelli or FN SLP and that's the 1K to get to the favorite ARs.
