I went on another Alibris run as I collect old loading data and study it and use it with caution.

I now have a complete set of Sierra Manuals
I have Lyman/Ideal back to 1940 (issue 30 I believe).
Speer other then volume 1
All hornady
All Accurate Arms
All Nosler
All Lee.

It is sure interesting to pull out a company's load data for one particular bullet and compare how the loads have changed over the years. I should make some tables up of how say a 38 special 158 grn SWC has changed since 1937 with Sharpe Reloading manual.

I'd be especially interested in such a table that has data for powders currently produced.
It'd be very informative.

Thanks for posting.

I have Ideal manuals back thru #35, always looking for more. I bought a beautiful S&W Regulation Police last year, found and purchased Ideal molds designed for the gun and used Ideal data. What a fantastic revolver, it dates to 1927, thats where the old manuals and molds really shine.

I have a question then for you MMCSRET?

Do you load for gun like yours with period data or modern data?

It is an interesting quandary to consider. Maybe a new thread is in order.

I saw your new thread, in that particular case I used the old data after checking it against current recommendations. The data corresponded across the ages as long as the bullet and powder was the same. I have used some early 357 Magnum data when using an early design bullet such as 357443 and firing them in a bruiser of a revolver such as a Colt Mark III or a Ruger NMBH. I don't use the old data in the N frame S&W 357's because the cylinder is shorter and the bullet has to be seated deeper, I don't own a L frame so I don't know about the dimensions there.
