It's happy time!
I've waited approximately four months for my first milsurp, a service grade Garand from the CMP, and now it's here. It's certainly in "nicer than expected" condition, all the parts except a few things on the rear sight have a strong parkerized coating, and the wood is a dark, uniform color. The metal sure came clean and it appears to be lubed, the wood is nice but seem a bit gooey (should I do anything about it?) The trigger is surprisingly nice. The receiver and the barrel are both marked SA, and the serial number, 42164XX, makes this a post-war example (I think). It may have been born after the big war, but I can console myself with the thought that it may have buttstroked a few commies in its day (). Pics when I find the camera.
