A year ago the trigger spring broke so i left it for a while. Last week I got the part s from CZ USA and installed the a new trigger return spring. It took me several tries to finally get it into place. Then once installed i thought i was off the hook . Then came the slide stop spring, and boy it was a hullava difficult to get it into position. Its like working as a brain surgeon with very tiny spring. Its not easy tell ya. Finally i did it and what a good feeling. CZ 82 is not easy to work with with all those little springs, but the gun is super nice with smooth double action trigger pull.

Im sure those who have CZ 82 knows how it is what im talking about. Many say the Makarov is much easier with less parts .

I have not detail stripped my CZ 82, but let me tell you, this is not the first story I've read of what a bear they are to reassemble. Usually somebody will come along in a thread like this to tell you what CZ charges to reassemble a 'bag gun' (a bag of parts) which I think is like $80.00

Its not disassembly and reassembly friendly. It s meant for real gunsmiths and people who wants the challenge. I used internet DIY and it sure was tough to figure out. I hate letting go of this gun bec its so smooth shooting but thinking of fixing it when time comes with something gets broke, is a real pain . I dont know yet but ill think about it. I sure would like trade it for a Bulgarian makarov.

I took mine apart to change the sear out (DA was skipping more than I was comfortable with). It was certainly not the easiest to do a detail strip on, but I think people overstate the difficulty. Take a few pictures of how everything engages each other, and especially how the springs sit and its no big deal.

Every single firearm Ive taken apart has been a hundred times easier to work on/reassemble than even the easiest airsoft AEG gearbox I've had to work on.

Saw the title and knew the slide stop spring had to figure prominently. Mine took 3 hours and a set of hemostats to get in. Congratulations.

The original slide stop spring looks like a hump U shape. I reused it . i also bought an extra from CZ USA and they sent me a different shape like an L . It said on the receipt as CZ 83 slide stop spring. So i guess this will be fine for my CZ 82. I got it on reserve in case the original one gives up.

Everytime i handle CZ 82 loaded empty and playing with the trigger pull and controls, i m always amazed at how nice this gun is but hate to deal when repair time comes. Its a chore as it involves taking out the little pins and the springs are just too tiny like you are working as a brain surgeon. Several times i was trying position the slide stop spring took me almost three -four hrs of utter failure . I was cussing and the spring keeps keeping jumping gets loss. I have to find it and do the tedious process again and again. Im glad i got a straight mosquito hemostat .

But sure is, the CZ 82 is a challenge to repair. Next time if the sear springs goes, that be another challenge i have to face. Im glad i got the sear spring at hand , cost me $2 from CZ USA. I hope it will be a while before something goes wrong.. Definitely this gun stays at the bedside table.

The slide stop springs are slightly different between the 82 and the 83. There's a guy named Norm Sutton who hangs out in the "Unofficial P64 Resource Forum" -- he makes and sells slide stop springs for the 82. If you can't find him there, PM me and I'll see if I can dig up his contact info.

Norm is here too, he has a site
makes shepards crooks for the CZ
tell you what, if you think the slide stop is bad, try respringing the hammer block/sear spring,
'fun'
doesn't even begin to cover it.

So the CZ 83 slide stop spring DOESNT work in CZ 82 ? Wow i thought all these are compatible even the tiny parts.

They made a change because the original design was a headache. The L-shaped one for the 83 won't retrofit in the 82. I think it's because the pin that anchors the spring is different, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

EDIT TO ADD: Norm's spring isn't exactly the same as the original. It's a slightly different solution than the one that CZ came up with for the 83, but it works fine.

Nathan, there were 2 (well 2.5) versions of the stop, there is ALSO a retrofit kit, so that you can use the SOLID (roll pin) of the second version

first one the spring goes into a groove on the pin, second one, flips the spring 180* and the leg slips into a small hole in the underside of the frame,

Most folks end up sending them in zip lock bags to CZ USA after breaking them down to small parts.

Just today i sold the gun for what i had in it . I thought it was time to let it go as i dont wanna deal with problems down the road. I might as well stick to my trusty Russian Makarov Commercial version. Thanks to all
