CZ-82 + 18lbs Wolff spring = gritty slide movement?

I've come to the conclusion that the recoil spring that came with my CZ-82 might be a bit tired, contributing to somewhat sharp recoil.
I'm well aware blowbacks will always provide nastier perceived recoil than a locking breech design of the same caliber, though I believe any steps towards reducing any unpleasantness is a decent investment of time.

I after scouring reports from various sites on the intrawebnet, I concluded the 18 pound spring is considered heavy enough to make a difference while not affecting reliability.

After the easy installation of the new spring, I noticed there's a seemingly gritty quality to the movement of the slide, whereas it was nearly butter-smooth with the original spring.
Just out of curiosity, I reversed the spring in case there was an area of the spring could be rubbing the barrel... no difference.

I have yet to function-fire the CZ after installing the spring and things could very well smooth out during this outing. However, I'm curious if others have noticed such a change after installing heavier Wolff springs.

Thanks in advance!

I have the 16 lb spring on mine, and also notice the gritty slide movement. It doesn't affect function, but does lower recoil quite a bit. My guess is that the spring wire is slightly larger in diameter and rubs on the barrel.

It has been my experience that Wolff springs are not always exact duplicates of original springs. I suspect it is just a bit larger as has been mentioned. Be sure to coat the interior of your slide with a little lube before firing.

Thanks for the replies. Upon closer inspection, it turns out the spring seems to be hugging the barrel snugly, a bit more so than the original (as you two suspected). I guess some light grease along the barrel might help a bit.
