Just rejoined the NRA. I'd been a member years ago but let it lapse. I figured with the expected coming assault on our rights now is a great time to rejoin.

Thanks for rejoining the fight guys! Have you joined your state association, too? I know, it never ends. But if we take care of business on the state level, it frees up the NRA to focus on threats emanating from Washington, D.C., plus it has direct effects on our day to day freedoms.

I just renewed at a local gun show. I've been thinking about letting my memebership run out, and joining a state orginization like Virginia Citizens Defense League. Instead I renewed and asked them to stop sending me a magazine, I'd prefer they kept the money spent on my subscription. I may still join the VCDL, but I feel like the NRA is our strongest ally in the fight for our 2nd amendment rights.

Why not join both?

It's not much money, and both groups do a lot... the VCDL is probably the most visible state group in the nation so far as gun rights are concerned, but the NRA has a lot more national clout with congress critters.

I also just renewed, it's now my second year as an NRA member (hey I'm only 23). I do wish they would save some of the money they use to send me all kinds of junk mail and use it for something else though. This year I did the cheapo membership that does not include the magazine, so hopefully that will cut down on the junk.

Mine had lapsed and I renewed just before the NRA convention here in Louisville... I didn't want to be a poser. heh!

I'm also a member of the local Izaak Walton League. Around here they're very active in protecting our rights at the state and local level.

7mmsavage, the VCDL does wonders for the gun laws in VA. I recommend joining them as well as the NRA. Since you're in Richmond, you should come out to the meeting they're having at the Tuckahoe area library (behind Topeka's) on Thursday, May 29th, at 7:00 PM. It's open to the public and you can meet Philip Van Cleave, the President.

I normally attend, but they've been having them on Thursdays and I have Boy Scout meetings that night.

I joined the NRA for the first time about 10 days ago. How long does it usually take before I start getting spammed? I'm hoping soon. :)

holy crap. That lifetime member discount is gone. Darn. I was going to do it.

Just checked. It's back up to the normal price.

I'll have to wait until I am an attorney and have a steady stream of cash coming in before I can do it. I'll do it then for sure. So in 3-4 years. Until then, I'm annual.

just contact them and ask.they will stop sending you stuff.simple and effective. You dont get "junk", they didnt "waste" money sending it.Win-win.

Q: How can I reduce the amount of mail I receive from the NRA?
A: Simply email us at [email protected] or dial 800-NRA-3888 and request to be placed on the "Do Not Promote" list. This will significantly reduce the amount of mail you receive without affecting important mailings, magazine service, or your membership renewal.
