Been trying to locate a Cobra for 3 months or so. Scored one at a gun show this weekend. They are scarce around here, guessing the dealers are afraid of getting stuck with them. At the last table I was going to view I found a Night, but I don't like the bobbed hammer . Took a quick look and asked about the standard model. He had one, slightly used. PO just didn't like it. Had a little copper in the grooves, that was it. Gave $625 after a little dickering.

Interesting thought about the dealers not carrying them, which makes sense. A LGS has a Kimber revolver that's been there for awhile but never seen a new Colt on display.

I'm interested in a 6 shot snubbie and I like the new Colts. Due to work related reasons it would spend most of the time as a car gun, so its hard to justify spending so much.

I'm curious about that-- why would you prefer a snubnose for a car gun? I've been thinking about keeping a scratchy old S&W 64 in the car...

I go back and forth on what to use and what size gun. I tend to think something more compact would be more handy if I had to use it while in the vehicle since its tight behind the driver's seat.

I make deliveries to homes and businesses, including restaurants, and often at night. State law prohibits carrying in establishments that serve alcohol, so it needs to stay in the vehicle.

I agree with your reasoning. A 3" barreled gun or shorter is what I would choose also. In the event you need it you are very likely going to be shooting at short distance so a longer barrel won't get you much of an advantage. And if you need a longer barrel to be shooting at someone shooting at you, you should be driving away, not shooting back.

Muzzle blast and powder flash could be a problem though.

OP, nice gun. Enjoy it.

Congtats on your purchase.. FYI, they've been offered/available online for a while now from multiple retailers NIB for around the same price you paid ($550-$600ish).

Strange, they haven't been that hard to find around here. Sportsman's Warehouse usually has one in stock.
Great little gun though. The Cobras I've looked at have the best factory triggers, both SA and DA, I've ever seen on revolvers. I've been trying to justify (in my mind) buying one for myself. If Colt comes out with a Cobra with a 3" barrel, I'll snatch one up in the blink of an eye.:D

I use a Ruger LCR9 as a car gun. Makes tons of sense to me considering the intent. I can maneuver and store it inside the vehicle more easily. It also gives me a nice small carry weapon to throw in my pocket or strap to my belt when I find myself out of the vehicle without a regular carry gun (I keep several holsters for it in the console).

I forgot to ask the dealer I bought the Cobra from about the King. I've never fired a 3". I'm sure it won't be a hard skill to learn!
