I've always liked the looks of these slender knives. While on a salt water fly fishing trip on Cape Cod, I stopped at an outdoor shop that stocks a very large selection of Benchmade, Boker and Buck knives. I don't know of any shops around my home where I can look at a lot of knives, so I usually pick up a knife at this place when I'm there.

I handled the Boker Plus Lucas Burnley Mini-Kwaiken with G-10 scales and a D2 blade and couldn't resist. The price was steep at $169 ($172.95 MSRP) but the knife had a great fit and finish and a wonderful action and I couldn't resist.

I love it. Except that it's made in China (!) and I saw it on sale for $109 in a big on-line knife dealer when I got home.

Very sharp looking!
You're right, though the price is steep for a Chinese knife, even a Chinese Boker.

This is one of those knives I would have never ordered on line but seeing the fit and finish in person and feeling the precise action pushed me over the edge. The knife is really quite good looking.

The liner lock is a machined and polished piece of stainless steel, not a typical stamped piece. And the liner opposite of the lock matches it. Both have a short beveled area where your finger pushed the liner lock off the blade. It's hard to describe... I have a large number of knives and this one is definitely one of the prettiest. I'll try to get some good photos of it tomorrow.

The blade centering is perfect and the bottom of the knife, when closed, had a really flat and precise look. I had to look twice at the label to believe it was made in China. It really has a high-quality look and feel. The D2 blade was shaving sharp out of the box. A little bit of stropping made it scary sharp.

I paid too much, but I'd say it would be a bargain at that $109 sale price I saw it for on line. I think they go for about $150 on the big auction site.

It's kinda a catch-22, because Boker's quality control is so hit and miss that I'd want to buy one in person, but when it's twice as much in person...

Great looking knife. I imagine it has great balance, too.

I like that there are more options now that have the effectiveness of a tactical folder without the mall-cop feel.
