Finally got (and shot) SP-01 purchased from hags

Yesterday was a good day. My nice new CZ SP-01, with competition hammer and single action trigger, with wood grips, was delivered, . . . and after work, I took it to the range. I was able to tear the center out of a 5 inch target. True, I was only shooting at 7 yards, but I wasn't taking my time either. If I do MY part, this gun will shoot where I'm pointing.

hags did great work on the trigger and hammer work. It has a very nice pull on the trigger. Quality work done on a great gun makes for a fun day at the range. I plan on doing some more testing tomorrow, perhaps attempting longer range shooting with it. ;D

If you're interested in doing business with hags, I give my "stamp of approval"!

Browns Fan, yes those are very nice wood grips. Technically (for me) the rubber ones FEEL better, but I just couldn't have an SP-01 without the Coco Bolo!! :what:
 
Update on my new SP-01.

I really love this Single Action trigger. When it first came in, it had a fair amount of movement before it got to the point where it dropped the hammer. I realized that it had a set screw that takes some of it up, so I unscrewed that screw a bit, and now the takeup, before hammer fall, is more 1911-ish, which is what I was wanting. So now, what was a great pistol to me is even better!!

Perhaps on Thursday, I will try my hand at 25 yards. Should be interesting. :cool:
 
I think the rubbers on my PCR feel a little better as well, but the Coco Bolo just looks so good, and still feels pretty good too, that I went with that.

Hey, hey, that's pretravel! Not creep!

In all seriousness I left the pretravel adjustment alone.
That's an individual thing. If you go too far the sear will not reset, so please be careful.
Once you get to the point where the trigger stops, it breaks like glass. I just don't want anyone to think there is any creep in there.

Correct, hags. This is not creep. The actual pull is very crips. I wasn't completely sure of the nomenclature, but it is as hags stated, pretravel. I have a small adjustment to make, but all in all, it makes the trigger so much better (the "1911" style of pretravel)! They should make a pretravel screw on all triggers, as far as I'm concerned. Those who want more can have it, but those who don't, . . . . .

Anyway, I can't thank hags enough for this fine weapon! :)
 
Well, I may have been premature in my "reducing the pretravel of the trigger". Apparently, when I use the screw and bring the pretravel to about 1.5mm (where I'd like it to be), the sear [sometimes] will not reset (as hags warned). It isn't an issue with the trigger job and the pull is still very nice. Is there anything I can do to make use of the pretravel screw that will still make the system reliable? If not, I'm fine with the way it is. Just like the short pretravel before the *bang*.

FYI - As it is, if I have it at a 1.5mm pretravel, and if the pull of the trigger doesn't result in a hammer drop (the sear not resetting), a flick of the trigger or hammer will "fix it", and the hammer will fall on the next pull.

Also, when the trigger refuses to drop the hammer (the sear not being reset), when I increase the pretravel, there is a point when I hear a click (the sear resetting). This position is about all the way out (pretravel). Just another FYI
 
Just wanted to drop a note to you all about getting my SP-01 back from hags, who I had remove the firing pin block and make it to where the pretravel on the trigger is short. It arrived today and this trigger is amazing! I now like it better than my excellent 1911 trigger that I love so much (Springfield EMP)!

If you are in the market for a new gun, or some gunsmithing, hags is an excellent choice. He practically jumped through hoops to make me happy, and I'm sure I was a pretty tough customer. After all was said and done, I am completely happy with the purchase and work and now have a SUPER nice gun to show for it!

Not only do I have a great CZ product, which feels great in my hand, is incredibly accurate, . . . it now has a fantastic trigger as well. I was originally wanting a large frame, high capacity 1911, but now that thought is nothing more than a faded memory.

Is a good guy, I bought an M&P from him. I would encourage others to give him a "shot" as well, he's a real asset to THR.

Glad you like your CZ. With a few well chosen mods, they rival anything.
 
I originally wanted a 1911 pistol, in high capacity frame, and the only one that could compete, PRICE wise, was the Para Ordnance PX189, . . . . . but I think we all can agree that it is "inferior" to the CZ products, and especially the way mine is set up. For less money than the Para, FAR less than the next high capacity 1911 brand, I have an extremely accurate, low recoil, slick as butter trigger, and impressive ergonomics/feel in the gun I have. This will be one gun that "selling" will never cross my mind!! It now tops my "favorite gun", which was my Springfield EMP, which I still love very much. This CZ is loved just a little more, which is saying a lot!

Yes, give hags a try. You will not be disappointed. :cool:
