After almost ten years of wishing and wanting, I finally got my "unicorn".

A stainless steel Springfield Armory range officer in 9mm. I've had a couple 1911s in the past but they've always been .45. 9mm versions are pretty rare around here and the local shops always wanted an arm and a leg to order them.

I moved to a different area and talked to the manager of a shop that I frequent; two days later this came in. Lower than internet pricing to boot!

Put 100 rounds through it the day after I got it and it's a nice shooter, very accurate and smooth. I did have a couple FTRB issues with it but chalk it up to it being a new gun that is pretty tight.

Nonetheless I've started shopping for upgrades and have a Wilson Combat FLGR and flat wire 13lb spring as well as a set of Loc grips with stainless screws on the way.

Thoroughly looking forward to putting more rounds through this beautiful piece of machinery!

Nice. I love seeing the renewed appreciation of old school where old school makes sense. Single stack of any caliber in particular.

I look forward to seeing you some day move into 9x23 or .38 Super with it too.

One question though, what's a FLGR?

Todd.

If the slide is stopping right before it closes that last little bit, that's usually an extractor tension issue (too much tension). I've encountered that a few times. You can make a "field grade" adjustment to it by taking it out, putting the fat end back in the tunnel, and bending it a bit. There are actual tools for that, but if it's your only 1911 I don't know if it's worth it to get them.

Yup, full length guide rod. The flat spring seems to be a good upgrade from my reading.

I don't think it's an extractor issue.. The slide seems to need a little help pulling the next round from the magazine and sometimes shoving it home. The flat spring I got is a 13lb as recommended by Wilson.

Guess we'll find out soon!

Very cool man! Congrats! I don't need a 9mm 1911, but I sure would like to have one like that!
