It turned out to be a pretty good night, or evening. Made it about a half hour before sun set.

I had just enough time to get my new DPMS LR G2 sighted in at a 100 yards. I now have 50 rounds through it and it shoots amazing. I could not be happier with what I bought.

It is by no means a true target rifle, but after I got the paper part down I was able to murder some pretty mean looking rocks. Most of them were about the size of basket balls and bowling balls I would guess. I would like to do it again with a range finder so I know for sure how far away they were, but I would guess in the 200-300 yard range. If those rocks were deer, they all would have gone to the freezer and I would have had a lot of explaining to do to the fish and game.

Over all I am well pleased in my investment. It seems very well put together. It fead my reloads without any issues at all. It was very accurate. The recoil was very manageable especially for being a "light" semi auto 308. I have not put it on a scale, but it specs out at 8.5 pounds I believe.

Quite a few on this forum commented that the 16" barrel would be quite loud and the muzzle flash would be impressive, but I found both to be unremarkable. That might change some when I start loading with BLC-2 or the surplus H335 I have. I used my hunting loads to sight in the scope since I know what those are capable of through my bolt gun. They are 165 grain Speer BTSP's over IMR 4064. If that 4064 metered as well as a ball powder I would just use it all the time.

But over all if this rifle continues as it has started out it will be a fine rifle for most any purpose I will have for it.

Almost forgot the pics. No target to night but next time.
