I have wanted one of these since I was a kid. Even as a youngster I would pour thru Dad's history books and wanted one of these as soon as I first saw one. New in the box unfired Lemat Army model revolver ;) Sending payment off tomorrow afternoon ;) Cannot wait. Now to get some more green scared up to have BigBadGun make a holster for it as well :D

..................and I am blaming Das Jaeger for making the sickness even worse.... I had to find the cure :)

Nice!

FYI, I was told by a friend who owns a LeMat that you must have the rammer for the shotgun barrel in the loading lever when you load the .44 chambers, else you will bend the loading lever. He learned the hard way.

Yes it was posted there and at the civil war reenactors forum. I am a reader only at both websites............. and glad I like to read now :) Thanks

Ha ha ha Jeager

strikes again ! :D

Ummm , slightly bend the loading rammer then slip it back into the loading lever and it will stay put , otherwise it will shoot out or fall out .

Congrats on your score ! Thats a good model , hope you gotta good deal on it too !

Buddy , now I know you got it as bad as me ! I had the same dream , the same type Dad I am thinkin :D

Das Jaeger

Yes Jaeger I think we did :) I have been a history nut since I was a young kid. I am the only guy at work thats sits with his nose in a book on break and lunch  Been reading alot of Civil War books here lately. ABout to make another book run though........... I have about cleaned out all my bought up books again :D I have been pouring thru Lemat post on here picking up bits and pieces of good information........... and thanks for that as well guys. Regards :D

you ever shopped Dixie Gun Works library , awsome collection of books they have , and they have the LeMat book too , BUY IT !

I was sitting on a Flight to Alabama a few years ago, five hour flight , had six gun magazines with me to read , Sterwardess asked me if I wanted something to drink whily my nose was burried into my BIBLES , yes I said , and then said your into guns huh ? Duh , you might be a red-neck if ...:D

Nuf said , Jaeger

I've only fired one once back in my N-SSA days, fellow CS Cav. officer had one on the line & I had to try it out.
My friend you will be happily sattisfied with that one because they are a treat to shoot even with the unusual grip angle.

What was the name of the old TV show where the sherrif had a Le Mat. Johnny Ringo or something wasn't it.

Nice Navy model. I think it would take a Gorilla to bend the loading lever. It's .315 steel tube with .064 wall thickness. If the rb takes that much pressure to seat it's oversize. You do need to put a small bend in the ram rod so it well stay in the loading lever when firing.

Question........... I load my Walker with .457 balls for a nice fit ( and sealed cylinder). Can I use the same size balls with my Lemat?? Also, Madcratebuilder, do you still sell the screwdriver kits for these? If so PM me with teh particulars and when my mad money rejuvenates after this latest spree I will get a set. :D Thanks

Will have to get both of them................... looks like some real good reading ;) Thanks

Yes it did............. I am undecided between a '59 sharps or a '58 enfield 2 band though. WOuld really like to have one or the other :banghead:

Well, trust me, I did it on my cavalry model. Not seriously ... as a matter of fact, it's actually convenient in a way; it's bent enough to keep the shotgun rammer from sliding out too easily!

Mine eat Hornady RB at .454 perfectly, shaved lead , not too much pressure .
The .457 is way too much for mine . :)
451 is way too small .

This almost sounds like the story of Goldy Locks and the Three Bears ?
This ones just right ! :D
Or was that Dread Locks and the Four Beers ?

Das Jaeger :)

Ummm

Looks like an Army to me .

Lever yours from the base of the laoding lever closer to the cylinder , and the loading lever won't be at such risk bending it so much . Regardless of correct ball size or not , tis a weak link in the design , it can bend easilly .
Just be aware of it at least , and at least try my hint , its much more gentle on the design anyway . Even with proper fitting balls you can see it flex when you lever in a ball , especially if you hold it near the end .

Das Jaeger :)

I bought a Calvary LeMat at Cabela's Bargain Cave Tuesday. It was either it or a Uberti Walker, which I already own. Been wanting a LeMat for a long time, too. They had it for $650 and I gave in.

Pietta calls for a .451 rb but it's not a real good shaved fit, I use a .454, they shave a nice ring. PM sent on tools.

Is it a cross pin barrel selector or a spur barrel selector? I can't tell from the photo, I was just guessing:evil:
I want to be a Navy Model when I grow up.
