SU16's just feel so chintzy in the hand. How rugged are these things anyway. Stab somthing with that bayonet and that plastic...*ahem* (scuse me) polymer stock is goint into pieces.

a folding bayonet.... for a folding gun. Well, someone's got a sense of humor. Sort of, anyway.

The HBAR is kinda neat though I guess.

What would be useful for the SU-16 though is a replacement "lower receiver" that isn't so danged...well.. chintzy (nice word alduro -- thanks. :p ). Honestly, I never got the "folding gun" concept in the first place. Better a solid metal action set into a plastic reciever like the G36/XM8 rifles than that.

So it wont have a folding stock ...so what? At least it won't have the "FAB-10 wishIwasarealgun" feel about it.

Third Rail....Yup...the AR has a plastic stock too. Somehow doesn't feel quite so "chintzy" though.

I don't really care for AR's either. I'm one of those metal and wood kind of guys. You know, AK's.

Doesn't an AR have plastic furniture? Or is that different somehow?

A plastic buttstock, grip, and forearm is far, far different from a plastic two-piece receiver. Now I'll grant the SU-16 doesn't feel nearly as cheap or flimsy as it looks once the bipod is folded. And the light weight is nice. Heck, if I lived in CA I'd seriously consider it as an alternative to the Mini series for an autoloading .223. (Not that I'd like that particular array of choices).

That said... I think Kel-Tec is kind of getting carried away with their "let's annoy the politicos" design philosophy. Forget the "neener neener Feinstein, my rifle folds but it's okay because it folds in the receiver" nonsense and just build a solid rifle.

Same action, different plastic shell would prolly sell right well in the Free States. :neener:

What's the word on when the new accessories are available? They should have released the rifle with the handguard in the first place.
