Growing up in the Midwest and it was rare to find a single live .22 round.
Now, out here in Oregon I find loaded ammo very often.
Found a full box of PMC Bronze 9mm and a full box Sellier & Bellot 9mm, at the same place both new.
15 rounds 7mm. magnum reloads. Gave them to a friend that has one and he pulled them down to reload.
Most of a tin of .22 air rifle pellets.
And at various times will find 1 or more loose rounds, some light primer strikes others just dropped.
And of course .22 rimfires that I just leave on the ground.

I pull down all found ammo unless it is definitely new factory.

Anyone else finding?

I usually find at least one live round of every batch of pickups I get at the range. Never found any still in the box though. Since I can never be sure of the source, I just pull them down. Bullets go into the scrap lead bin, powder goes in the garden or for random pyrotechnic experiments, brass gets reloaded, primers get saved in a container for misc live primers (haven't come with a plan for those yet).

Misc live primers.... I might would load them with some Hodgdon Trail Boss but would be a little too worried to do anything else with them.

I shoot frequently on public land and find lots of .22 lying around as well as larger stuff. I don't pick up unfired ammo on general principles. I recently saw a fellow at a local gun show with plastic bags of loose .22 ammo he had picked up. I don't think I'll be firing any of that.....
