I'm having a hard time trying to find powder fo reloading handgun rounds in my area.

I'm looking for Alliant Bullseye, Red Dot, Blue Dot, Unique, and Green Dot. Does anyone now a suplier that I can get powder from?

I'm having a hellof a time finding it.

Welcome to THR, everyone is looking for pistol powder it seems, also everyone who finds it hoards it too. Good luck, check the online sources everyday and be prepared to pull the trigger if your stuff shows in stock! It doesn't last long in stock anywhere.

I'm starting to find that out. I went out and bought everything to start reloading handgun rounds and can't find powder anyplace.

I never had that issue reloading for my rifles although I haven't reloaded for a few years now.

Welcome to THR.

While rifle powders are becoming more available, at least online, pistol powders (especially popular ones) sell out fast, often within 30 minutes to a few hours.

We have a consolidated components thread where members post available/in-stock items - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=9733163#post9733163

Just several days ago, popular pistol powders like Titegroup/WST/WSF/Longshot/CFE Pistol were posted but sold out quickly. I do have a shipment of WSF/CFE Pistol/Varget/H335/H4895 coming from Recob's Target Shop to show that if you can act quickly, powders can be bought.

You can subscribe to the thread by going to Thread Tools and selecting Subscribe to this Thread to get an email sent to your computer/smart phone when a member posts reloading components in stock.

You can also use "search bots" like gunbot.net but I found it sometimes lags hours to days.

Welcome.
Check the thread BDS referenced everyday, 3 or 4 times a day and you'll find some pistol powder within 3 wks is my guess. 2 if you're lucky. Ive scored many, many, times that way. So many times in fact, that I'm not supposed to look at the thread until spring:)

I just picked up a pound of titegroup and 700x from my local Graf store. Also picked up a pound of bullseye from bass pro. Had it shipped free to the store and haz mat free as well. When I picked that up they had red dot on the shelf. Picked up a pound of that too. It's out there. And getting better. You just have to be vigilant and persistent.

Guess it all depends on where you are (and since we don't), helping you can be an issue. Where I live 1# jugs of just about everything is available. I don't buy it because I prefer 8# jugs at a lower unit cost. I will NOT pay 250+ for 8# of powder when it is normally about $120. YMMV and if that is the case, then buy the 1# jugs, b ut be prepared to pay more than you did in the past

I primarily order powders online. Spreading the HazMat fee and shipping charges out to several 8 lb and 1 lb containers negate the tax and cost of gas to the now "not so local" gun shows (with no guarantee I will find powders I want/need).

If you can, network with local reloaders and do group buys to spread out the HazMat/shipping to the point where they are negligible.

Keep trying, powders are out there and we are seeing more and more of it lately.

It's out there. Just need to be patient. I've been grabbing a pound or two of anything suitable for my calibers as long as I've been reloading. I've got a bit of a variety but no stockpiling, especially for pistol powders. Shotgun on the other hand? I've got several pounds of each.

Pistol Powder is hard to get for some reason but I do have to order the majority of my Powder I just make sure to buy enough that the hazard fees don't bother me, Right now at AmericanReloader.com has some Powder that comes from spain and is realy good Powder its called Commercial#1 and they may have Comercial#5 Either Powder is good #1 is like unique and #5 is a little faster burning, I bought 8#s of the #5 because I can load the 380,9mm,40,45,38 special all my pistols with it..... #1 is the same only I don't now if it will load the 380 otherwise its the same. They also have rifle Powder. AmericanReloader.com

I've been finding powders at the local gun shows. I'm only 20 minutes away, and there is usually one every couple of months. There were 2 in December.

At the last show, I picked up a pound each of Bullseye, Longshot, HS-6, Silhouette, and WSF. All but the Bullseye are new to me, I've been trying out different powders to see what works and what I will buy in the future. I'm over 20 different pistol powders now, and still looking for more.

There was plenty of Titegroup there, and also BE-86 for $20/lbs. Didn't buy those since I have plenty for now.

Still looking for AA#2 and #5, Solo1000, Nitro100, Blue-Dot, Zip, and TrueBlue. :)

There are a couple of vendors at the shows that I like to deal with. I can call/email them or go to their websites to see what they have. At the last show, I had already paid for the items online and picked them up at the show, so no hazmat fee for me. :D
