I have a pistol with a black enamel finish over a Parkerized base. The enamel has some very fine, shallow scratches in it. None of them go through to the layer below. Is there any way to eliminate these scratches? I'm not worried that they are bad enough to let corrosion start, but purely for cosmetic reasons I'd like to get rid of them.

Thanks for any help.

Sand then polish, carefully.
Start with #800 wet/dry sandpaper, followed in order by 1000, 1200, 1500, and 2000 grit.
Then start in with progressively finer grades of rubbing compound.
Finish with Renissance Wax and you will be good to go.

I would think applying matching enamel to the scratches with a small artists' brush and then smoothing it out with a cloth and paint thinner would be better than sanding off more of the enamel.
