Hey guys, just added an M-39 and an FR-8 to my mil-surp collection, they are both in great condition, the mosin came with a bayonet, but from what I have gathered the M-39 bayonets are rare, and the pics I have seen they are only half the size of this one, the blade measures 16 inches, I tried to fit it to my Finnish M-27 but it would not fit, just wanted to know if any of you seen a Finnish bayonet like this one.

Most of the Finn bayonets are reproductions. Not many survived the war and the Finns weren't big fans of them. What markings are on that one?

Ya, the repos have a blueing to it, so you can spot them out easily, the only markings I could make out was the word Artillery or Artillria with a coat of arms underneath that I cant quite make out

You had me at M-39. When I clicked on the thread I saw the picture and thought "Whoa! A bayonet too!" After reading the posts I figure I got nothing to add. But I do love my M-39. It is one of the most accurate surplus rifles I have.

Nice score. I have both and they are great rifles. If that is a real Finn bayonet, it is worth more than the rifle.....chris3

Looks like the bayonette is Mauseresh.....

Finns ran light and didnt like or much use the bayonette, so most were ditched or turned in as extra, even though it was reduced in length to a handier size than most all European bayonetts. They brought their own utility type knifes, 'Pukkas' from home and used those. I think they issed a type of Pukka to the troops anyway.

regardless the Rifle is FINE:D

Can you provide a better photo of the bayonet and markings? If it says something like artilleria and is almost 16", then it is most likely a Spanish M1913.

The M1913 bayonet is designed for the Spanish M1916 mauser-style rifle, so it could very possibly fit on an M39.

Thanks for the info Teacher, you are probably right, I figured it might be spanish with Artilleria on it but was not sure, but at least the bayonet fits :)
