In the state of Florida it is legal to carry while under the influence of alcoholic beverages. It is only unlawful to DISCHARGE a weapon while intoxicated, although in self defense it matters not whether you are intoxicated. You may have more explaining to do though, which is why it's not a great idea to make a habit of carrying while consuming alcohol. However, I've done it a least half a dozen times and nobody ended up with a hole in them. YMMV

BigJake, we don't have separate bars here in VA. They are always attached to food being served in some way. Restaurants, bowling alleys etc.

I agree with the thought, but it's not worth explaining to The Man why I plugged some evil person with booze on my breath (to me, anyway). Any tile crawling lawyer worth his salt would have a field day with that.
