I'm seriously considering being an instructor, giving private lessons as a side business. I've taken the NRA certified instructor course and am waiting for my official cert, and I've had tons of experience starting from when I was in the military a long time ago and have some experience coaching and teaching in general. I can do a reasonably decent job teaching beginners.

I'm a civilian, and I notice a lot of certifications --- Certified Glock Firearms Instructor, Certified H&K Firearms Instructor, Certified Glock Armorer ,etc --- are available only to law enforcement.

Some clients (not all) like to see those certs on your resume. However, all of the certs I've googled are for LEO only; the NRA is the only one that has certs for non-LEO. Does anybody know if there are other courses that give you certification?

While i cnat help you, i suspect alot of the reason the Gun-co's (such as glock, HK) dont train civilians is due to possible legal fallout. They have alot more to lose as they are one big company.

In their website, they say they use to allow everyone to their Glock school. Then because of high demand, they had to filter out students and thus restrict only to LEO and employees of dealers.
